Greetings from the Institute
In the name of Allah, the compassinate, the Merciful
Arabic Islamic Institute is the first fully-fledged education and research institute in Japan, established for the purpose of introducing and promoting Arabic language and Islamic culture. Founded in 1982, the institute tends to promote mutual understanding, cultural exchanges and friendship between Japan and the Arabic Islamic countries in general, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in particular.
In April 2001, the present building was constructed here in Moto-azabu, Minato-ku, and the Arabic courses were started with the opening ceremony in the presence of H.I.H late Prince Takamado in May 2001.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia encompasses the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Holy Qur’an was revealed in this place from Allah as guidance for all mankind, and has been the message of the truth, equality, virtue, peace, cooperation and compassion throughout 1400 years. Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh has been introducing Arabic language and Islamic culture, and the institute is one of the university’s overseas branches.
Arabic is one of the official languages of the United Nations. It is not only used in 22 Arab countries, but also it is the language of the Islamic Civilization, which had a great impact upon various academic fields such as natural science, mathematics, medicine, literature, philosophy, architectonics and fine art, and has been living in our life until today.
Arabic, the language of the Holy Qur’an, has been continuously used until the present day without change in its form, and is suitable for various thoughts and science throughout ages. It is a great pleasure that the number of Arabic learners in Japan is increasing year by year.
The Institute offers teachers with strong background in Arabic , unique textbooks and curricula as well as audio-visual rooms and library, and is ready to welcome Arabic learners anytime.
Also the Institute endeavors to improve the Arabic language skill of the Japanese students and their knowledge about Arabic culture. To achieve this goal fully, we are ready to hear your advices and to cooperate with other educational institutions.
We sincerely hope that the institute will contribute further and continue to enhence friendships andaffinity between Japan and the Arabic Islamic countries.
