About AIIT \ Message from Imam Institute's Director
The Arabic Islamic Institute is the first educational institute which has been legitimately established in the capital of Japan, the country of the rising sun, blessed with beautiful nature, traditional culture and history. The Institute aims at teaching the Arabic language and introducing the Islamic culture to Japanese society.
Since it was founded in 1982, this Institute has been making contributions towards promoting mutual understanding, cultural interchange and friendly relations between Japan and Arabic and Islamic countries, especially Saudi Arabia.
The Institute was reconstructed at the present site and started in April 2001. In May of that year, we held a grand opening ceremony in the presence of HIH Prince Takamado.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad and also the place where the Holy Koran was revealed. Over the past 1400 years, the Holy Koran has transmitted the message of peace to humanity. The Imam Mohamed Bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, which has been facilitating the spread of the Arabic language and the correct understanding of Islam, has six schools in the world and this Institute in Tokyo is one of them. Arabic, which is one of the official languages of the United Nations, is the language that has created Islam, the greatest civilization human beings have embodied. It has continuously been alive until today as a language of scientific knowledge, philosophy and art. Arabic is a language which can cooperate with the thought and science that human beings face in every era.
We are delighted that more and more people in Japan are studying Arabic.
The doors of the Institute are open to all who are interested in studying Arabic. The Institute is furnished with textbooks, audiovisual facilities and so forth to facilitate the educational process.
We strive to attain our objectives in cooperation with other educational institutes and hope that our services will be beneficial to the Japanese people.
It is also our wish that this Institute serve the purpose of establishing friendly ties with Arabic Islamic countries.
